Law Enforcement, PennDOT Focus on Seat-Belt Use, Impaired Driving as Holiday Travel Period Begins

The Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invite parents and caregivers to make this holiday season a safer one by taking advantage of free car seat checks across the state that will complement the nationwide Click It or Ticket “Operation Safe Holiday” enforcement effort occurring from November 20 through December 4. Troopers and other department members certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians will conduct no-cost car seat fittings, at various locations from November 14 through November 27, no appointment necessary. PennDOT Roadwork Schedule

The following roadwork is scheduled on Interstate 81.   Long Term Projects Exit 194 (Clarks Summit) to Exit 202 (Fleetville – Tompinksville).  A private contractor for PennDOT continues work on a $9,982,000 project to replace bridge decks on Interstate 81 North and South between Exit 194 (Clarks Summit) and Exit 202 (Fleetville – Tompinksville).  In order to expedite the project, all northbound work will be conducted throughout 2016.  All southbound work will be conducted in 2017.  There will be single lane traffic from Exit 199 to 202 from April through November each year.
