Emergency Bridge Repairs on I-81 North – Major Delays Expected

Posted on Friday December 13, 2013

December 13, 2013 – Beginning at 11:15 this morning, PennDOT crews will perform emergency bridge repairs on Interstate 81 North at Exit 190 (Dickson City/Main Ave). This bridge is in the process of being replaced, but a large hole has opened up on the portion that has not yet been replaced.  The area is scheduled to be down to a single lane until 5 p.m.  Unfortunately, because this is a Friday, two weeks before Christmas,  – MAJOR DELAYS ARE EXPECTED AND MOTORISTS SHOULD AVOID THE AREA IF POSSIBLE.

This portion of the bridge is scheduled to undergo repairs as soon as traffic can be switched over to the section of the bridge that has already been replaced.  However, in order to do that, temperatures need to be above 25 degrees with no precipitation in order for the paint to dry.

To avoid the area, motorists can take Interstate 476 (PA Turnpike/toll) between Clarks Summit and Keyser Ave or Wyoming Valley.
