I-81 Split. As of Thursday, October 15, 2015 motorists heading north on I-81 will need to make a lane decision approximately one mile before Exit 175 (Pittston).  Motorists in the right lane will be able to exit at 175.  Motorists in the left lane will not be able to access the exit because a contractor will be working in the area between the two lanes. The split pattern will be in place until Fall.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete by summer of 2017.

I-81 Split *UPDATE* – Please be advised that there will be a traffic switch on I-81 near Exit 175 about 1,000 feet north of the current split near Exit 175. Contractors will implement a similar traffic pattern where the road will split, directing motorists into two lanes separated by a temporary concrete barrier. Motorists will need to stay in their lanes as crews will be doing work in the area between the two lanes. There will still be two lanes of traffic going northbound through this area. This split is expected to be in place until next year.
