PennDOT Roadwork Schedule- Week of November 20-27

The following roadwork is scheduled for this week on Interstate 81.

Short Term Projects: 

I-81- Lackawanna County- Exit 184 to Exit 182- Emergency lane closure as requested by PA State Police for crash re-construction. State Police requests PennDOT assistance with right lane closure South Bound Interstate 81 at M.M. 182.6 near the Davis Street Exit. In addition it will be necessary to utilize rolling road blocks to restrict traffic for PSP access to gather all related crash information between Exit 183 (River St.) to Exit 182 (Davis St.).  Tuesday, November 24th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-81-NB-Lackawanna-Exit 201 to Exit 206-Crack Sealing-Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Long-Term Projects:

I-81 – Lackawanna County – between Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) there will be lane shifts due to reconstruction work to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Exit including widening of bridges on Interstate 81, rehabilitation of existing bridges over Lidy Road, State Route 315 (Airport Road), and Plane Street, replacement of the pedestrian bridge just north of the Avoca Exit, construction of new exit and entrance ramps, three new roundabouts, construction of two new bridges, and construction of a new roadway.  There are now two new ramps and a new roundabout opened near the airport.  The roundabout from I-81 South at Exit 178 is also now open.  Anticipated completion – Spring 2016.

I-81 – Luzerne County – between Exit 175 (Pittston) to Exit 170 (Wilkes-Barre) there are lane shifts due to reconstruction work on several bridges in both northbound and southbound directions.

I-81 – Luzerne County – I-81 North near Exit 175.  Motorists will need to make a lane decision approximately one mile before Exit 175 (Pittston).  Motorists in the right lane will be able to exit at 175.  Motorists in the left lane will not be able to access the exit because a contractor will be working in the area between the two lanes. The split pattern will be in place until June 2016.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete by summer of 2017.
