PennDOT Roadwork Schedule – Week of October 15-24, 2015

The following roadwork is scheduled for this week on Interstate 81:

Short Term Projects

I-81 Single Lane Closure: There will be crack sealing, manual patching and bridge deck repairs on Interstate 81 in the northbound and southbound lanes from the concrete pavement area north of the Central Scranton Expressway to the Luzerne County line. Work will begin on Wednesday October 14 and take approximately two and a half weeks to complete.  Work is scheduled for Monday thru Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All work is weather dependent, but is tentatively scheduled for: Southbound lane will be closed on Wednesday 10/14, Thursday 10/15, Monday 10/19 & Tuesday 10/20.  Northbound lane will be closed on Wednesday 10/21 & Thursday 10/22. Each lane closure length is approximately 3.0 miles per day.

I-81 Split. As of Thursday, October 15, 2015 motorists head north on I-81, they will need to make a lane decision approximately one mile before Exit 175 (Pittston).  Motorists in the right lane will be able to exit at 175.  Motorists in the left lane will not be able to access the exit because a contractor will be working in the area between the two lanes. The split pattern will be in place until June 2016.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete by summer of 2017.

Lane closure for structure repair for SR 6309 Bridge over Interstate 81 Southbound MM 166 to MM 164 Southbound 81 Single lane restriction Wednesday, October 21 and Thursday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-81 194-206-Crack Sealing-10/19/2015-10/23/2015-7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Long Term Projects:

81 – Luzerne County – between Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) there will be lane shifts due to reconstruction work to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Exit. For Safety tips on roundabouts contact Michael Taluto at mtaluto@pa.gov. Anticipated completion for the project is July 2016.
