The following work is scheduled for this week on Interstate 81.
Short Term Projects:
I-81 North and South near Exit 178A (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport). There will be a single lane closure on Monday, July 27. This work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is for setting message boards and sign structures.
I-81 South near Exit 155 (Dorrance). There will be a single lane closure 24/7 beginning on Monday, July 27 until Friday, July 31 at 3 p.m. This work is for replacing concrete slabs along the interstate.
I-81-North-Luzerne-between Exit 164 (Nanticoke) and Exit 168 (Highland Park Boulevard Wilkes-Barre)-Bridge Deck Repair-Monday, July 27, 2015-Thursday, July 30, 2015-7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I-81-North-Susquehanna-Exit 223 (New Milford) to Exit 230 (Great Bend)-Spray Patching and Ditching-Monday, July 27, 2015-Thursday, July 30, 2015-7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Long Term Projects:
I-81 – Lackawanna County – between Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) there will be lane shifts due to reconstruction work to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Exit including widening of bridges on Interstate 81, rehabilitation of existing bridges over Lidy Road, State Route 315 (Airport Road), and Plane Street, replacement of the pedestrian bridge just north of the Avoca Exit, construction of new exit and entrance ramps, three new roundabouts, construction of two new bridges, and construction of a new roadway. There are now two new ramps and a new roundabout opened at Exit 178. Anticipated completion – Spring 2016.
I-81 – Luzerne County – between Exit 175 (Pittston) to Exit 170 (Wilkes-Barre) there are lane shifts due to reconstruction work on several bridges in both northbound and southbound directions.
