PennDOT Roadwork Schedule- Week of September 5-12

The following work is scheduled for this week on Interstate 81.

Short Term Projects:

I-81 Luzerne County Between Exit 165B (Wilkes-Barre Northbound) to 170 A (Bear Creek) for hole patching on Sept 10-Sept 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-81 Luzerne County Between Exit 168 southbound (Highland Park Blvd Wilkes-Barre) to 165 (Mountain Top/Ashley) for hole patching on Sept 8 –Sept 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-81-NB-Luzerne-Wilkes-Barre Twp-Patching-9/10/2014-9/11/2014-8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Long Term Projects:

I-81 – Luzerne County – Exit 178A (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport) and Exit 178B (Avoca) have now been combined into one exit, Exit 178 (Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport/Avoca).

I-81 – Lackawanna County – between Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) there will be lane shifts due to reconstruction work to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Exit including widening of bridges on Interstate 81, rehabilitation of existing bridges over Lidy Road, State Route 315 (Airport Road), and Plane Street, replacement of the pedestrian bridge just north of the Avoca Exit, construction of new exit and entrance ramps, three new roundabouts, construction of two new bridges, and construction of a new roadway. Anticipated completion – November 2015.

I-81 – Lackawanna County – between Exit 188 (Dunmore/Throop) and Exit 190 (Main Avenue) – The I-81 North ramp at Main Ave, Dickson City is now open.  Lane shifts on I-81,  late summer, there will be paving in the area at night.  Anticipated completion – fall 2014.

I-81 – Schuylkill County – Between Exit 134 (Delano) and 138 (PA 309) will be single lane in both directions and Exit 138 will be closed due to a long term reconstruction/rehabilitation project. During the closure the posted detour will route traffic to Exit 141 (PA 424) to use PA 424/Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Beltway to access PA 309 north. Anticipated Complete – March 2015.
