Interstate 81:
Short Term Projects:
I-81 North – Luzerne – Exit 143 (Hazleton) to Exit 145 (West Hazleton) will have lane restrictions for Bridge repairs Monday, June 2 to Tuesday, June 3, 7 am to 2:30 pm
I-81 North – Luzerne – Exit 155 (Dorrance) to Exit 159 (Nuangola) will have lane restrictions for Bridge Repairs from Wednesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 5, 7 am to 2:30 pm
I-81 North – Luzerne – near Exit 165 (Mountain Top/Wilkes-Barre) right lane will be closed for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 from 8 pm to 6 am
I-81 North – Luzerne – near Exit 170 (Bear Creek/Wilkes-Barre) right lane will be closed for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 from 8 pm to 6 am
I-81 South – Luzerne – near Exit 175 (Pittston/Dupont) left lane will be closed for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 from 8 pm to 6 am
I-81 South – Luzerne – Exit 178 (Avoca/Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport) to 175 (Pittston/Dupont), right lane closed for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 at 8 pm
I-81 South –Lackawanna – Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 178 (Avoca/Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport), Moosic Flyover Bridge will have alternate lane closures as needed for deck and joint repairs on Monday, June 2 from 7 pm to 5 am
I-81 North – Lackawanna – Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 182 (Davis Street/Montage Mountain), Boy Scout Bridge will have a left lane closure for deck and joint repairs on Tuesday, June 3 from 7 pm to 5 am
I-81 South – Lackawanna – Exit 182 (Davis Street/Montage Mountain) to Exit 186 (Drinker Street/Dunmore) right lane will be closed for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 from 8 pm to 6 am
I-81 North – Lackawanna – near Exit 184 (River Street) will have lane restrictions for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 from 8 pm to 6 am
I-81 South – Lackawanna- Exit 184 (River Street) to Exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway), Moosic Street Bridge will have right lane and ramp closures as needed on Sunday, June 1 from 7 pm to 5 am
I-81 North – Lackawanna – Exit 184 (River Street) to Exit 186 (Drinker Street/Dunmore), Central Scranton Expressway ramp bridge and Moosic Street bridge will have alternate lane closures as needed for deck and joint repair from Wednesday, June 4 at 7 pm to Thursday, June 5 at 5 am
I-81 South – Lackawanna – near Exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway) right lane will be closed for sign replacement between Sunday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 4 from 8 pm to 6 am
I-81 – Lackawanna – Exit 188 (Throop/Dunmore) to Exit 194 (Clarks Summit) will have a milling and paving operation from Sunday, June 1 to Friday, June 6, 6 pm to 6 am
Long Term Projects:
I-81 – Luzerne County – Exit 178A (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport) and Exit 178B (Avoca) have now been combined into one exit, Exit 178 (Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport/Avoca).
I-81 – Lackawanna County – between Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) there will be lane shifts due to reconstruction work to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Exit including widening of bridges on Interstate 81, rehabilitation of existing bridges over Lidy Road, State Route 315 (Airport Road), and Plane Street, replacement of the pedestrian bridge just north of the Avoca Exit, construction of new exit and entrance ramps, three new roundabouts, construction of two new bridges, and construction of a new roadway. Anticipated completion – November 2015.
I-81 – Lackawanna County – between Exit 188 (Dunmore/Throop) and Exit 190 (Main Avenue) – Lane shifts on I-81, ramp closure from Main Avenue to I-81 North – Early summer the ramp is scheduled to reopen; late summer, there will be paving in the area at night. Anticipated completion – fall 2014.
I-81 – Schuylkill County – Between Exit 134 (Delano) and 138 (PA 309) will be single lane in both directions and Exit 138 will be closed due to a long term reconstruction/rehabilitation project. During the closure the posted detour will route traffic to Exit 141 (PA 424) to use PA 424/Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Beltway to access PA 309 north. Anticipated Complete – March 2015.
